Govt approves Mangalore City's Masterplan
The masterplan, a blueprint for the city's future development has received the state government's approval, mayor M Shankar Bhat said here on Tuesday, September 29.
Chairing the monthly meeting of City Corporation, the mayor said the governor has given his assent to the masterplan. The Mangalore Urban Development Authority had taken up the work of revising the masterplan, which was hanging fire for long.
2 Girls from city in National Athletics Camp
Two girls from Dakshina Kannada have been included in the national athletics camp being conducted in Bhopal in preparation for the Asian and World championships.
Dakshina Kannada District athletic coach Vasanth Kumar, who is the only coach from Karnataka to have been invited to the camp, told The Hindu that two of the three athletes chosen for the camp were from Dakshina Kannada district.

A 45-year-old man, resident of Murugolli in Belthangady taluk got a new lease of life when a rare heart tumour was successfully removed at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle.
Hospital authorities stated that the patient had chest pain, palpitations and breathlessness for six months and was subjected to a two-dimensional echo study on detection of an abnormal heart sound.
