The tournament was inaugurated by the Parish Priest of Vamanjoor, by Rev. Fr. Joseph Cardoza by flying up the white doves. The vice president of Parish Council Mr. Jerald Monteiro, the secretary, Mr. Charles Pais, YCS Animator Sr.Ida (SRA) were also present for the inaugural function at 12.00 p.m on Sunday. In his inaugural speech, Fr.Cardoza addressed the participants to exhibit their talents.
16 parishes in Cricket and 8 parishes in Throw Ball participated in this tournament. Vamanjoor Church Campus was filled with spectators and supporters cheering their teams both the days.
Y.C.S Cup 2009 was won by Bondel Parish in both the events defeating Angelore in Cricket and Vamanjoor in Throw Ball.
It was a stage for Young Christian Students to exhibit their talents and to show team spirits. Spectaators enjoyed every moment of the tournament. This tournament was a great success and indeed created history in Vamanjoor Church Ground.
The inaugural programme was compelled by Vinitha Baptist (Secretary), Avin Mascarenhas(President) welcomed the gathering, Neha Rodrigues thanked the people present there. Through out the tournament, commentary was given by Darel D’souza, Jeevan Lobo and Joseph Alvares.
At the end of the tournament, presentation ceremony was held at 5.30 at the church ground. Fr.Joseph Cardoza (Parish Priest of Vamanjoor), Fr. Charles Menezes (City Varado YCS Director), Fr.Rony (Assistant Parish Priest of Bondel), Mr.Jerald Monteiro (Vice president of Parish Council) and Mr.Charles Pais (Secretary of Parish Council) were present at the Concluding Ceremony. Fr. Cardoza and Fr.Menezes congratulated the winning teams with their messages and distributed the prizes.
Hansie from Bondel was adjudged the best Batsman, Malan from Bondel was the bowler of the tournament and Denver from Angelore was adjudged the Man of The Series.
