“Never again,” an exhibition of exclusive photographs taken during Mangalore Riots in October 2006, by a well-known photojournalist Sudhakar Yermal, was inaugurated today at Kandaya Bhavana, District Administration Premise in the city. Ganesh Rao, Chairman, GR Education Trust, inaugurated the exhibition.
Speaking on the occasion, Ganesh Rao told, the photographs show the bravery of a photojournalist who performed his duty during riots. The title of the exhibition ‘Never Again’ itself expresses that, it should not repeat in the history of Mangalore. Each citizen of Mangalore has the responsibility to contribute towards society in maintaining the peace and create a brotherly relation, he added.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Dakshina Kannada, said that, all photos explain the condition of curfew and the struggle during the communal riots. Each photo has deep meaning and message to the society. These are the memories of past, but teach us the lesson and tell us not to contribute for communalism and riots, he opined.
Krishna J Palemar, In Charge Minister, DK, Gopal Hosur, IGP, Western Range, Ponnuraj, District Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada, Anwar Manipady, Vice-President, BJP State Minority Morcha and others were present on the occasion.
This exhibition will conclude on 10th October 2009.
