Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Hospital, Attavar, here will celebrate World Sight Day here on Thursday. Retina surgeon Nithin Shetty will inaugurate the newly installed OCT machine, and this event will be followed by an awareness talk to students.
World Sight Day is an international day of awareness, held annually on the second Thursday of October every year to focus attention on global issue of avoidable blindness and visual impairment. This year the focus is on eye health and equal access care. Cataract is the leading cause of blindness - yet it is curable by a simple, cost-effective operation.
Dr Shetty will be available for consultation on Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm on prior appointments at KMC Hospital Attavar. Patients may register by calling 0824-2445858 extn: 5352.
