Genesis, The Forum of MBA Students of St. Joseph Engineering College, inaugurated its First State Level Paper Presentation Contest titled ''Rendition 09'' on 6th October, 2009 at Bethania Hall, SJEC, Vamanjoor, Mangalore. Chief guest Jacob Crasta President,
Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry inaugurated the event.
In his Inaugural Address Jacob stated that the MBA students should imbibe entrepreneurial qualities and become future entrepreneurs rather than budding managers. He was an exemplar and thus convinced and motivated the students to grasp the opportunities to climb the ladder of success with dedication and hard work. He inspired the students to shun away the mentality of a crab, behaviour of a frog and to join hands together to build the nation.
Dr. Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal, SJEC in his Presidential Address remarked that the students should strive to achieve an equilibrium between academics and extra curricular activities. He reinforced the notion that "To be a good manager, one should be able to manager his or her own personal life well".
Rev. Fr. Valerian D''Souza, Director, SJEC in his Guest of Honour Address wished the paper presenters and the delegates "all the very best" for Rendition - 09
Prof. A Jayakar Hegde, Dean-Academics, Prof. Eric Patrao, Dean-Planning and Development, Dr. Prakash Pinto, Dean-MBA, Rev. Fr. Anthony Serrao, Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Bondel, Ms. Smita Jesudasan, Faculty Co-ordinator of Genesis and Nelson Castelino were the dignitaries present.
Priya Sequeira, Student Co-ordiantor welcomed the gathering. Smita Jesudasan, the Faculty Co-ordinator proposed the vote of thanks.
At Rendition – 09, twenty papers were presented in the three areas of Human Resource, Marketing and Finance.
Valedictory Function
The Valedictory Function was held on 6th October, 2009 at 4.00 pm in the SJEC Bethania Hall, St. Joseph Engineering College.
Chief guset Marjorie Aranha Texeria in her Valedictory Address stressed on the importance of values of integrity and honesty in one’s life. She cited examples where a single individual can make a difference to the society.
Rev. Fr. Valerian D’Souza, President, Dr. Joseph Gonsalvis, Guest of Honour, Dr. Prakash Pinto, Dean-MBA, Prof. Edmond Frank, Dean-PGDBM of St. Aloysius College, Smita Jesudasan, Faculty Co-ordinator and Nelson Castelino were the dignitaries present.

First Prize - Mohanesh Chengappa, NITK, Surathkal for the paper titled ‘Employee Training and Development Needs for Proposed Mangalore Petroleum SEZ’.
Second Prize - Reema S Bangera, A.J. Institute of Management for the paper titled ‘Competency Mappint’.
Marketing Area:
First Prize - Rachana Poovamma, Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology for the paper titled ‘Issues and Challenges in Rural Marketing’.
Second Prize – Priya Jyothi Sequeira, St. Joseph Engineering College for the paper titled ‘Rural Marketing’.
Finance Area
First Prize - Vijay Kumar T. Karne, Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology for the paper titled ‘Why do Mergers and Acquisition quite often fail?’
Second Prize - Smitha Shenoy P, HR Institute of Higher Education, Hassan for the paper titled ‘E-Banking’.
Rendition – 09 was a memorable success at it provided a platform for the students to enrich knowledge and demonstrate talents in the form of competent and innovative papers.
