Nativity Feast

Catholics in Coastal Karnataka joined together to celebrate "Monthi Fest" or Mother Mary’s feast, also known by the name, "Nativity of Mary".

The celebrations began at various churches all around the district at 7am. Singing hymns and prayers at the grotto of the mother Mary, taking procession with Musical band, Children in their best dresses showered flowers all over the Church premises filling it with colours of the flowers.

The Parish priests blessed the paddy and each of the family in the Parish were given strands of paddy. The family then partakes in a fully vegetarian meal, served traditionally on banana leaves and drink milk or “vorn” mixed with the new corn.
