Shikshaka-Shikshana Saptaha

30 September 2009

Shikshaka-Shikshana Saptaha, a seven-day programme organized by DK District Federation of Education Resource Centres to assert the community's rights to create an amicable atmosphere for the promotion of education, has urged the state government to shun the practice of deputing teachers for administrative works.

A resolution passed at the valedictory ceremony of the programme held here recently said that educational activities suffer when teachers are deputed for government works. If the deputation was necessary, the authorities should ensure that classroom activities are not affected, the resolution said.

Other demands of the federation include conducting live demonstrations for parents at the school level on the Nali Kali programme being introduced in the state and formation of rules and regulations for the effective implementation of the Children's Act 2009 that ensures free and compulsory primary education to all children.

About the National Text Format (NTF) 2005, it said programmes should be conducted at all levels to help teachers and parents understand the ideals and objectives of the NTF.

It also suggested appointment of local teachers for imparting training and information about the lifestyle, culture and people's attitude of the district in case persons from outside the districts are appointed as teachers in schools.
